Introduction
Hawaii has a magic all of its own, a blend of scenic
splendour, heartfelt hospitality and great year round weather.
The 50th State known as the ‘Aloha State’ has a proud
Polynesian past and whilst being the most remote islands in the
world attract almost seven million visitors a year.
Hawaii is different right down to the core. Strung across 1600
miles of the North Pacific, its 132 islands are the tips of giant
volcanoes, formed above a vent leading to the heart of the earth.
The older islands sank under the weight of the lava. The younger
southern islands compose the Hawaii we know today, still towering
up to 14000 feet above the sea. Most of Hawaii’s volcanoes
are extinct or dormant, but Kilauea is the world’s most
active hot spot.
The famous “aloha spirit” is what many people remember
most when they return home, it makes friends of strangers, melts
cultural barriers and inspires understanding. It is possibly one
of Hawaii’s most valuable assets. When you visit Hawaii
with us, go with an open mind, a sense of humour and a smile and
you’ll be sure to take home lots of aloha!
The Islands
Life comes in brilliant technicolor and vivid contrasts on Hawaii’s
six main islands; Oahu home to most of the islanders and it’s
neighbours Kauai on the north and Molokai, Maui, Lanai and the
Big Island of Hawaii to the south. Yet even the busy cityscapes
of Honolulu and Waikiki boast a backdrop of blue sea and skies,
golden beaches, green mountains, white clouds and black lava rock.
Time stands still on some neighbour islands and leaps ahead on
others. Most are quiet rural idylls where old sugar plantation
towns contrast with the latest luxury resorts.
Climate
Hawaiian weather is as constant as weather gets, It’s
warm, typically in the 80’s year round, sunny and breezy
along most of the shorelines, with passing “liquid sunshine”
showers to fuel the waterfalls and rainbows. Temperatures drop
as the altitude rises, but otherwise air and sea temperatures
stay within a predictable warm range. Each island has a wet windward
side and dry leeward side, a warm bottom and a cooler top.
Getting There
We utilise the services of all major scheduled carriers to offer
you the very best value for money and the most convenient way
to travel to Hawaii. Hawaii is 5 hours and 30 minutes form the
West Coast of America which itself is 11 hours from the U.K so
we suggest a stopover en-route and on your return to break the
journey. Most popular are stops in San Francisco, Los Angeles,
Las Vegas or Seattle, but other stops can be incorporated.
