Weather

Over a third of all visitors find the weather better than expected. During the summer, average daytime temperatures throughout the state range from the 60s to the 90s.

Best time to visit

Alaska is best visited from mid-June to mid-September due to the state’s northernly latitude. In the summer months the warm weather is complimented by Alaska’s abundance of wildlife on display including whales, bears, seals, sea otters and much more.

Glaciers

There are more active glaciers and ice fields in Alaska than in the rest of the inhabited world. The largest glacier, the Malaspina, is 850sq/m.

Mountains

There are more than 70 potentially active volcanoes in Alaska. Several have erupted in recent times.
