Huntington Beach has more than 600 large concrete fire pits located in a long spaced out line as far as they eye can see. On an evening as the sun goes does the long American campfire tradition of S'mores begins... S'mores involves roasting marsh mellows over the fire, covering in a layer of chocolate and eating between crackers.
The fire rings are free and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations are not accepted. They are strategically located in long, wide rows and close to the parking lot, so it's easy to carry firewood and whatever else you need to sit round the fire . On summer weekends they are highly coveted and beachgoers frequently lay claim to them before noon. You can buy S'mores kits from many shops and a number of the hotel's we work with have special S'mores packages, in fact if you reall fancy going to town some of our hotels will set up a Cabana in the morning for you next to a fire put effectively reservation for you and supply weverything needed as well as a beach burtler!
During holiday weekends such as the Fourth of July, fire rings are staked out as soon as the beach opens. So you would need to get out as early and pick out a site where you want to spend the day and surround it with your gear. You can then frolic in the sand and surf knowing that you have a perfect beach bonfire spot waiting for you at dusk.
A beach bonfire on Huntington Beach with a S'mores kit is a truly uniqe way to enjoy the stunning Southern California evenings in the town known as Surf City USA.
