| Introduction
to USA Holidays in America
Holidays in America (or holidays in USA) offer so
many opportunities we understand that it’s often hard to
know where to start. Add to this the wealth of knowledge Complete
North America has in addition to what you already know about the
United States (or have discovered for yourself by past holidays
in USA) and we feel we’ve already made a case for your next
USA holiday being a Complete North America Holiday.
It truly is an awe-inspiring country like no other, take the
memorizing urban landscapes of a city like New York and compare
it to the thrilling theme parks and world of make believe in Orlando,
the glitzy shows, bright lights and 24/7 action of Las Vegas versus
the jaw dropping landscapes of the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National
Park, Yosemite National, Zion National Park to mention just a
few, oh and lets not forget the pristine white sands and turquoise
blue waters found around the coastlines of Florida, New England
South Carolina and California.
United States of America
The United States of America (USA) spans six time zones, covers
an area of 3.79 million squares miles and lies within the continent
of North America. The USA consists of 50 states, 48 contiguous
states along with the Hawaiian Islands located in the Pacific
Ocean and Alaska located in the far northwest of the North American
continent and separated by the country of Canada. The USA is home
to over 300 million people who represent the most ethnically diverse
nation in the world.
Flights to USA / America
Flights from the UK to New York, Boston Orlando or Miami, all
popular destinations on the East Coast of America take between
7 and 8 hours. Flights from the UK to San Francisco or Los Angeles
found on the West Coast will take close to 11 hours with a further
6 hour flight to Hawaii.
USA culture and landscape
Contrasts in culture and landscape are dramatic and can often
be experienced within one USA holiday.
The North East region known as New England offers wonderful autumn
scenery, unique B&B Innkeeper hospitality, wonderful coastlines
and the gateway city Boston is rich in colonial history and New
England charm. Holidays to New England can easily be combined
with holidays to New York, arguably the most incredible city on
the planet.
To the south you have the sunshine state of Florida, a destination
most people know for Disneyworld holidays but a state that offers
so much. Florida boasts a huge choice of golf courses, world class
beaches and the most amazing luxury resorts for pampering yourself.
The Everglades National Park offers something quite unique with
the chance to meet the native Alligators! A Florida holiday can
be combined with a holiday in the Caribbean or a complete culture
change with a holiday to Cajun Country and the vibrant music cities
of New Orleans, Memphis and Nashville – Here you can immerse
yourself in the history of American music and the rich southwest
culture.
Heading west you head through mountain ranges such as the Great
Smokey Mountains and the famous Rock Mountains a captivating region
for one and all, an area we know as the real America. The first
and in our opinion best National Park deserves a special mention
at this point. Yellowstone National Park spans an area of 3468
miles comprises lakes, canyons, rivers, mountain ranges and a
super volcano that fuels half the worlds geothermal features all
found in this park from geysers shooting water hundreds of feet
into the air to huge steaming mud ponds. Holidays to Yellowstone
National Park afford you the opportunity to see wildlife like
nowhere else in the world. Grizzlie bears, wolves, moose and herds
of bison and elk roam freely across the vast forests and grasslands.
Add to this mountain goat, coyote, eagles and hundreds of other
mammals, birds fish and reptiles whose home is Yellowstone National
Park.
Heading further west the mountains give way to dramatic canyons
none more impressive than the Grand Canyon. 277 miles long, ranging
in width from 4 to 18 miles and reaching a depth of more than
1 mile. Holidays to the Grand Canyon are incomplete without stopping
to witness a magical sunset or sunrise across the canyon.
Close by is a wondrous site of mans making, the flat desert plains
suddenly give way to some of the largest hotels in the world,
world class gambling, world class shows and world class resorts,
all glittering in the middle of the desert, welcome to the ‘Entertainment
Capital of the World’ Las Vegas.
The West Coast brings stunning rocky coastlines, yet more jaw
dropping national parks like Yosemite and Death Valley along with
vibrant culturally rich coastal cities such as Los Angeles and
San Francisco. To the North is yet more ever changing experiences
as you enter the Pacific Northwest packed full of more stunning
coastline skirted by migrating whales, mountain ranges, geothermal
attractions and an active volcano.
To finish things off you have the tropical paradise surroundings
of the Hawaiian Islands, packed full of luxury resorts dotted
around probably the most beautiful dramatic coastlines in the
world and last but not least the unspoilt territory of America’s
largest state – Alaska. Rugged and sparsely populated, this
is a real wilderness experience, holidays to Alaska are quite
unique yet few realise just how big this state is. Perhaps best
illustrated when you consider it has more coastline than all the
other U.S. states combined…
