Idaho’s state nickname is the ‘Gem State’ because many rare minerals are found in the Idaho mountains including gold, silver, zinc, copper and gems.

Weather

Winters can get very cold and its rare that temperatures will ever get above 0, however in the summer are consistently warm with temperatures average between 29 and 35C across the state.

Best time to visit

During the Summer months, June – September, the weather should be favourable in all areas. During the Autumn / Winter months, October-May weather is less predictable and snowfall and road closures are common in many areas with driving access to Yellowstone National Park prohibited.
