Autumn Colours.

New England Fall Foliage Escorted Holiday.

It was in these picture-perfect maple and cedar forests of New England that pilgrims, and later revolutionaries, sought sanctuary. As autumn arrives, you too can admire the fiery red, orange and yellow flames of fall foliage on a scenic journey from Boston to the rocky Atlantic headlands of Maine.

EXPERIENCE NEW ENGLAND FALL FOLIAGE THE C.N.A. WAY

Discover Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts and New Hampshire on this picturesque tour. Make sure you have your camera ready!

All our holidays offer complete financial protection and you will receive a uniquely personalised travelling pack to ensure you get the most from your adventure.

Day 1
Boston Arrival

Welcome to Boston and welcome aboard the Autumn Colours tour!

Get settled at your hotel, then set out on your own to spot some of Boston’s historic sites or enjoy a stroll along the waterfront before gathering at the hotel at 6 p.m. with your tour manager and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception.

Day 2
Boston – Lexington and Concord – Williamstown

Begin the day with a city tour of Boston’s historic sites including several along the famous Freedom Trail. Continue your journey into history with stops at Lexington and Concord, where the first battles of the American Revolution were fought and made famous with “the shot heard round the world.” The afternoon’s drive takes you along the Mohawk Trail, an early Native American and colonial trade route, and the first designated scenic drive in New England. Enjoy the stunning vistas before arriving in the quaint university town of Williamstown nestled in the western Massachusetts mountains known as the Berkshires.

Day 3
Williamstown – Quechee – Woodstock – Burlington

Head for the Green Mountain State of Vermont, driving through small towns and villages en route to the historic woollen mill in Quechee that now houses the Simon Pearce glassblowing workshop. Relish a Regional Meal lunch featuring local ingredients arranged on Simon Pearce’s beautiful stem and flatware before delving into the art and science of glassblowing. After a stop in the quaint and picturesque town of Woodstock, continue to your hotel located at a mountain resort where you will have dinner.

Day 4
Burlington – Stowe – White Mountains – North Conway (2 nights)

Continue up into the forests of Vermont as you travel to Stowe, home of the famous Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory where you’ll savour some of their famous and uniquely named flavours. Pass into New Hampshire, the Presidential Range of the White Mountains and Bretton Woods for a stunning glimpse of Mount Washington, the tallest peak in the northeast, before descending into the pretty town of North Conway on the edge of White Mountain National Forest. Later, get acquainted with the local flora and fauna during an engaging talk by a Local Specialist followed by dinner at your hotel.

Day 5
Kancamagus Excursion

Kancamagus Excursion

Spend the morning along the most famous and picturesque foliage destination in New England: the Kancamagus Highway. This American Scenic Byway, affectionately called “The Kanc”, has scenic vistas and prime foliage viewing abound, and the morning is dedicated to finding the best spots for viewing the vibrant fall colours. Your afternoon is free to spend as you wish. Perhaps enjoy a stroll through town or stop and take in the natural beauty of the area.

Day 6
North Conway – Bar Harbor (2 nights)

Bid farewell to the White Mountains as you head into the pine forests of the Maine interior. The mountains and forests of Maine soon give way to the “Downeast” coast and the Atlantic swells of Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island. This evening, join your travelling companions for a traditional lobster dinner and learn about lobster fishing from a fisherman, your local specialist.

Day 7
Acadia National Park Excursion

At 1,523 feet (464 metres), Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park is the first spot in the United States where you can see the sunrise. You won’t be getting up that early, but you’ll still have plenty of time to admire the view from the top of the peak before descending to discover the natural riches of New England’s only National Park. Marvel at granite cliffs overlooking dramatic, windswept beaches, graceful stone bridges arching over rushing streams and stands of ancient maples, their leaves glowing fiery red, burnt orange and mustard yellow in the crisp autumn air. Back in Bar Harbor, enjoy an afternoon on your own. Sip a coffee by the sea, stroll scenic Main Street or take an optional nature cruise on Frenchman Bay.

Optional Experiences

*Bar Harbor Nature Cruise (Seasonal)

Bar Harbor was once the playground of the industrial moguls of the 19th century. This cruise highlights the history and ecology of this enchanting old harbor. Keep your eyes peeled for seals, porpoises, whales and eagles along with the picturesque mansions and lighthouses that dot the phenomenally scenic coastline of ‘Down East’ Maine! Adults must show ID to board. Tour duration: 2.5 hours. (Minimum: 15 passengers). Subject to weather conditions. *May require guest wavier

Adult Price: US$34.00

Day 8
Bar Harbor – Maine Coast – Portsmouth

After experiencing the majestic colours of New England’s forests and mountains in the autumn, it’s time to embark on a journey down the rocky beaches and cliffs of Maine’s coast. Head down the coastal highway past lighthouses, fisheries and seaside dwellings that are home to everyone from local lobstermen to holidaying presidents. Travel south to Portsmouth which sits near the mouth of the Piscataqua River that divides New Hampshire and Maine. The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Portsmouth to its list of Dozen Distinctive Destinations. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant and toast your fellow travellers as you end your fall foliage experience.

Do I need a visa to travel to the usa?

In most circumstances, no visa is required for travel to the USA for any British Citizen passport holder and many other European passport holders, whose countries qualify for the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). This program permits entry for up to 90 days for business or leisure purposes. Everyone must apply to use the VWP via the online Electronic System of Travel Authorization (ESTA).  Advice states this should be done online at least 72 hours prior to departure. On payment of the $14 fee this system usually issues an electronic confirmation within minutes but this is not guaranteed and there are certain criteria travellers must consider before applying via ESTA to use the Visa Waiver Program. Once granted the VWP authorization is valid for 2 years.

It is essential that everyone who plans to travel to the United States reads the information contained on the following page – Visa Waiver Program

Please note : From 21st January 2016 The United States implemented changes to the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) as part of the Terrorist Travel Protection Act of 2015. One of the major changes implemented in January excludes any British National who has travelled to Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, or Yemen since March 01st 2011 from using the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Full details are contained on the above link but those affected will need to apply for a Visitor Visa with the U.S. Embassy before booking their travel arrangements.

You are advised to complete your ESTA prior to confirming any travel arrangements.

To use ESTA now please only use the following website – Official ESTA Website

Complete North America Limited cannot be held responsible for cancellation charges incurred by travellers who have booked travel and are subsequently unable to travel as part of the VWP or who are unable to obtain a Visitor Visa. If you have any questions after reading the information supplied above please speak to a member of our team.

Do I need a visa to travel to Canada?

British Nationals and travellers from other European countries can enjoy visa-exempt travel to and via Canada but must first use the online Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) at a cost of CA$7.00 per person. Most online applications are approved with minutes by email but the process can take longer particularly if supporting documentation is requested. An eTA is valid for 5 years and allows you to travel for up to 6 months on any one visit.

You are advised to apply for your eTA prior to confirming any travel arrangements.

For applications and full information on the scheme please only visit – Official Canadian Government eTA Website

Complete North America Limited cannot be held responsible for cancellation charges incurred by travellers who have booked travel and are subsequently unable to travel as part of the eTA scheme or who are unable to obtain a Visitor Visa. This was to be a once-in-a-lifetime holiday. It was memorable for the range of new experiences, the lovely places we stayed, your kind gift of the Boston excursions card and the matchless hospitality of the Liberty Inn at Yarmouth

Chisholm Party (New England) -

I just wanted to thank you once again for all the planning, booking and organising that you did on our behalf. Each of the hotels were great and the hotel in Niagara had the best view of any hotel I’ve stayed in around the world

Watts Party (New England & Eastern Canada) -

The Autumn colours were magnificent and we really enjoyed seeing the Pumpkin Festival celebrations in New England and then when we crossed the border, the Farmers markets and preparations for Thanksgiving in Canada.
