National Parks and Yellowstone

Escorted Tour.

This National Parks and Yellowstone escorted tour is one of the most complete tours by coach available for the Rockies and Canyons area. This starts with a private car transfer from your front door to the airport and free connecting flights from regional airports.

The breathtaking landscapes of Arizona and Utah, Wyoming and South Dakota present visions of the American West familiar from countless films and iconic photographs, yet they are infinitely more awe-inspiring experienced in person. Vast canyons, bizarre rock monuments, ethereal arches and sky-scraping spires await discovery at the eight spectacular national parks featured in this comprehensive itinerary, with plenty of time to explore them. Old Faithful, Mount Rushmore and the Grand Canyon rightly earn their share of the plaudits, but there is much more to enjoy in these spiritual homelands of the Navajo and Cheyenne, including wonderful insights into Native American life and culture, as our journey unfolds.

Our flexible approach means we can tailor your itinerary with extensions before or after the coach holiday.

This tour lends itself to pre or post stopover in a major city like New York or Chicago or perhaps you’d like to do a self drive version.

All our holidays offer complete financial protection and you will receive a uniquely personalised travelling pack to ensure you get the most from your adventure.

Day 1
Denver Arrival

Depart London Heathrow – 11:25
Arrive Denver – 14:20
Journey Time – 9 hours 55 minutes

Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service® collects you from home, for your journey to London Heathrow Airport for a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to Denver. On arrival, we transfer to our hotel, the Crowne Plaza Denver (3T+), Sheraton Denver Downtown (3T) or Holiday Inn Cherry Creek (3T) for the next two nights.

Overnight – Denver

Day 2

Modern and vibrant, set against a stunning Rocky Mountain backdrop, Denver makes a fine introduction to the American West. A brief orientation tour includes a visit to the gold-domed State Capitol building, one of the steps of which is exactly a mile above sea level, earning Denver its ‘Mile High City’ moniker. The remainder of the day is at leisure for relaxation or independent exploration – perhaps to learn more about Denver’s gold rush heritage at Larimer Square and the Historic Lower Downtown District, or wander around the excellent shops of the 16th Street Mall.

Overnight – Denver

Day 3
Denver to Rocky Mountain National Park to Cheyenne

North of Denver, the summer resort of Estes Park is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, with its towering, snow-streaked peaks reflected in still blue alpine lakes. After some time to appreciate the magnificent scenery, we continue to Cheyenne, the capital of Wyoming, named for the Native American people who occupied this region in times past. Our hotel is the Little America (4T) or Holiday Inn (3T).

Overnight – Cheyenne

Day 4
Cheyenne to Fort Laramie to Rapid City

Today we visit the historical Fort Laramie, a site of exceptional historical significance, a 19th century fur-trading station which was acquired by the US Army in 1849 to protect and supply western emigrants. It took on an increasingly important role in settling violent disputes between whites (often gold prospectors) and Native Americans, giving its name to two treaties, in 1851 and 1868. Following a visit, we leave Wyoming for South Dakota and Rapid City, the historic freight centre of the gold rush attractively situated at the foot of the Black Hills. Our base for two nights in Rapid City is the Adoba Hotel (3T).

Overnight – Rapid City

Day 5
Crazy Horse – Mount Rushmore

This morning we pay a visit to a work in progress since 1948, the Crazy Horse Memorial situated in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The monument is on a scale exceeding even that of the great pyramid, carved into a mountain and considered to be on sacred ground. This depiction of Sioux leader Crazy Horse, with arm outstretched illustrating the phrase ‘My lands are where my dead lie buried’, a tribute to the Native American. This evening we visit one of the world’s most impressive artistic achievements and an icon of the American West. Carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore, the 18m-tall faces of former presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln look serenely on. The monument itself is memorably featured in the climactic chase scene of Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest.

Overnight – Rapid City

Day 6
Rapid City to Devils Tower to Sheridan

Our journey continues into Wyoming and Devils Tower, a bizarre igneous rock formation that protrudes dramatically out of the prairies that surround the Black Hills. It is perhaps just as famous as the site of the landing spaceship in Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Then, we travel to Sheridan, a pleasant town which owes its prominence to a history of trapping, ranching, mining and railroad building offering modern hospitality with old west charm. Our hotel is the Best Western (3T), Sheridan.

Overnight – Sheridan

Day 7
Cody to West Yellowstone

We continue westward to the town of Cody, named after William F Cody, better known as the pioneering ‘wild west’ showman Buffalo Bill. After lunch at leisure and time for independent exploration of the collection of museums depicting features of the American West, we journey to Yellowstone National Park and to our hotel for the next two nights, the Gray Wolf Inn (3T), perfectly located for exploring this remarkable region.

Overnight – West Yellowstone

Day 8
Yellowstone National Park

Enjoy a full day tour of the unforgettable Yellowstone National Park. This high plateau straddles the border of three states and is packed with natural wonders – half of the world’s geothermal features (including the iconic ‘Old Faithful’ geyser) may be found here, along with hundreds of documented species of mammals, birds, fish and reptiles. In the company of an expert local guide we can appreciate the enchanting mountains and waterfalls, marvel at the volcanic ‘sideshows’ and try to shoot the perfect picture of the park’s ‘megafauna’ – characterful wildlife including grizzly bears, wolves and herds of bison.

Overnight – West Yellowstone

Day 9
West Yellowstone to Grand Teton National Park to Jackson Hole

Another memorable day of sightseeing awaits today, as we travel south through Grand Teton National Park, a 1,300km reserve renowned for the tranquil majesty of the snow-capped Teton Range, rising abruptly without foothills. The valley town of Jackson Hole offers a friendly welcome and a comfortable stay at the 49er Inn (3T) for the night.

Overnight – Jackson

Day 10
Jackson Hole to Salt Lake City

Today we travel south, crossing the state line between Wyoming and Utah as we journey to Salt Lake City, perhaps best known as the headquarters of the Mormon Church. Mormon pioneers, fleeing persecution in Illinois, settled here more than 150 years ago and helped build an attractive city with much to offer the modern-day traveller. On arrival, we take a short orientation tour before checking in at the Sheraton (4T).

Overnight – Salt Lake City

Day 11
Salt Lake City to Arches National Park to Moab

Sit back and enjoy the scenery as we follow the mountains passing beautiful canyons as we make our way to Arches National Park. Aptly named and famed for its preservation of over 2,000 natural red sandstone arches spanning 73,000 acres of wilderness, including the beautiful Delicate Arch. We check in to the Aarchway Inn (3T), Moab Valley Inn (3T) or Fairfield Inn by Marriott (3T+), Moab, a short distance away, for two nights.

Overnight – Moab

Day 12
Canyonlands National Park

Today we visit Canyonlands National Park, another remarkable park and as the name suggests, presents a richly-coloured landscape of canyons, plateaux and buttes, carved by two mighty rivers – the Green and Colorado rivers and adorned with petroglyphs by the Ancestral Puebloan Indians.

Overnight – Moab

Day 13
Moab to Bryce Canyon National Park

We wend our way, absorbing the scenery as we relax en route, to Bryce Canyon National Park. The park is a series of magnificent horseshoe-shaped natural amphitheatres with distinctive red rock pillars of stone carved into the pink cliffs of the majestic Paunsaugunt Plateau. The combination of mountain and desert climes create unique weather patterns, causing erosion, creating thousands of subtly and beautifully coloured limestone spires, fins, arches and mazes – a sight to behold. Overnight at the Best Western Ruby’s Inn (3T), Bryce.

Overnight – Bryce Canyon

Day 14
Zion National Park to Springdale

Today we visit Zion National Park, the oldest and most visited park, renowned for its soaring monoliths and echoing canyons, its enchanting waterfalls and rock colours, and its prolific wildlife and Native American heritage. We spend some time in contemplation of its quiet grandeur and natural marvels including the ‘hanging gardens’ (rock walls bedecked in summer months with flowers). Overnight at the La Quinta Inn & Suites (3T), Springdale.

Overnight – Springdale

Day 15
Springdale to Grand Canyon to Williams

We leave Utah for Arizona today as we make our journey to the Grand Canyon Airport for those that have booked an optional helicopter or fixed wing flight. View this extraordinary phenomenon from a different point of view, before we depart south to Williams. Two nights at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel (3T) in Williams.

Overnight – Williams

Day 16
Grand Canyon

Today we return to the undoubted wonder of the natural world. The Grand Canyon, a colossal, steep-sided gorge carved by the Colorado River, now a tiny silver ribbon a mile below, truly inspires with panoramic views of outstanding beauty from the south rim. Here we also visit the Grand Canyon visitor centre where there will be the option to watch a film in the incredible IMAX theatre.

Overnight – Williams

Day 17
Depart Phoenix

A truly wonderful journey concludes at Phoenix Airport, for a direct, scheduled overnight British Airways flight to London. In London you’ll be taken by our VIP service directly to your door at home.

Depart Phoenix – 20:40

Do I need a visa to travel to the usa?

In most circumstances, no visa is required for travel to the USA for any British Citizen passport holder and many other European passport holders, whose countries qualify for the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). This program permits entry for up to 90 days for business or leisure purposes. Everyone must apply to use the VWP via the online Electronic System of Travel Authorization (ESTA).  Advice states this should be done online at least 72 hours prior to departure. On payment of the $14 fee this system usually issues an electronic confirmation within minutes but this is not guaranteed and there are certain criteria travellers must consider before applying via ESTA to use the Visa Waiver Program. Once granted the VWP authorization is valid for 2 years.

It is essential that everyone who plans to travel to the United States reads the information contained on the following page – Visa Waiver Program

Please note : From 21st January 2016 The United States implemented changes to the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) as part of the Terrorist Travel Protection Act of 2015. One of the major changes implemented in January excludes any British National who has travelled to Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, or Yemen since March 01st 2011 from using the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Full details are contained on the above link but those affected will need to apply for a Visitor Visa with the U.S. Embassy before booking their travel arrangements.

You are advised to complete your ESTA prior to confirming any travel arrangements.

To use ESTA now please only use the following website – Official ESTA Website

Complete North America Limited cannot be held responsible for cancellation charges incurred by travellers who have booked travel and are subsequently unable to travel as part of the VWP or who are unable to obtain a Visitor Visa. If you have any questions after reading the information supplied above please speak to a member of our team.

Do I need a visa to travel to Canada?

British Nationals and travellers from other European countries can enjoy visa-exempt travel to and via Canada but must first use the online Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) at a cost of CA$7.00 per person. Most online applications are approved with minutes by email but the process can take longer particularly if supporting documentation is requested. An eTA is valid for 5 years and allows you to travel for up to 6 months on any one visit.

You are advised to apply for your eTA prior to confirming any travel arrangements.

For applications and full information on the scheme please only visit – Official Canadian Government eTA Website

Complete North America Limited cannot be held responsible for cancellation charges incurred by travellers who have booked travel and are subsequently unable to travel as part of the eTA scheme or who are unable to obtain a Visitor Visa. “We had an amazing holiday – it far exceeded our expectations. I would like to say thank you for organising our trip everything went like clockwork, from flights to hotel to motor home hire.

The national parks we visited in southern Utah and Arizona were amazing, so well done for making our holiday a trip of a lifetime, hope to use you again.”

    The Rawson Party (Utah)

“I just wanted to say thank you following our recent holiday. We had a superb time and have lots of happy memories of a wonderful 2 weeks. Thank you also for your flexibility and ensuring it went ahead smoothly.

Yellowstone and Jackson Hole are definitely a places we would like to spend more time in so we may be in touch again soon!”

    The Halpin Party (Yellowstone)

By way of observation, we thought the itinerary was excellent, covering a lot of ground and different aspects of the area’s geology but in a relatively unhurried way, leaving plenty of time to relax over a meal or by the pool. We also found the printed (and PDF) Travel Information booklet very useful.
